Hotel Elkhart could receive Regional Cities money for renovation

(Ben Quiggle/Elkhart Truth)

The Hotel Elkhart might soon be a newly renovated hotel again.

The building, the city’s tallest, could receive Regional Cities money if approved by the state. WSBT reports that the nine-story building is more than 95 years old, and a developer is looking to restore the building to its former glory.

The building houses a ball room on the top floor that overlooks the town, and is currently an apartment complex.

Kyle Hannon with the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce says Elkhart has been missing a downtown hotel for some time, and it would help businesses downtown.
