Friendly Confines deck vote pushed to July 24 meeting

The South Bend Common Council vote regarding the patio at The Friendly Confines has been put off for a couple of weeks.

The patio has been a point of contention for neighbors of the neighborhood bar. Several complaints about noise and live music have been registered since the patio was opened in 2014.

Last week, the Zoning Board gave the owners of The Friendly Confines a small victory and the discussion was to move to the County City building for Monday night’s meeting. At that meeting, it was decided that the vote on the matter would be tabled until July 24, in order to ensure that each member of the council will be in attendance.

The owner has said that if his patio survives, he will close it at 11 p.m. every night and move the music indoors.
