Elkhart police say man shot a gun while allegedly trying to rob ex-girlfriend

Police in Elkhart are investigating a shooting that happened when they say a man tried to rob his ex-girlfriend. It happened at just before 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, at a home on West Lexington Avenue, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

The victim told police she heard a knock on her window and when she looked outside she saw her boyfriend, ABC 57 reported.

She went outside to talk to him and he tried to take her phone and keys. During a struggle over the items, the man allegedly pulled out a gun, which went off, police said.

The man grabbed the victim’s keys and took off, ABC 57 reported.

There was no report of any injuries.
