You might not believe it at first, but Mishawaka needs a grocery store.
Not in the dense business district on the north side, though. It needs a grocery store near downtown. There are plenty of big box retailers and grocers as you head north towards the Indiana Toll Road. But in downtown, there’s a noticeable void of fresh food.
City officials tell ABC 57 attracting grocers to the downtown area has been difficult due to a lack of customer base, with many preferring to set-up shop in more dense areas like along Grape Road and Main Street north of downtown.
One developer, Flaherty and Collins, is building a 200-plus apartment unit in downtown Mishawaka, a move that will hopefully lead a grocer to open its doors in the downtown area.

So, they don’t want to open a grocery store because they’ve done a market analysis and know there won’t be profit in doing so. Sounds like good business practices.
200 apartments is probably not going to change that…despite what your UN Agenda 21 sustainable development plan says.
