Treasurer at shuttered Swanson Highlands pool suddenly resigns

More troubles for the Swanson Highlands Pool after two board members resigned amid a decision to audit the pool’s finances.

The future of the South Bend pool is treading water after the former treasurer and another board member stepped down Thursday. WNDU is reporting a director of finance at Notre Dame has volunteered to step in and take a look at the financial situation.

Families are wondering where the money went, with roughly 191 members at the pool and family dues set at around $250 apiece. The account has $85 in it right now.

Pool members complain that there’s been a lack of regular maintenance and new equipment. The board says there’s a lack of proper bookkeeping that might help to fill in the blanks.

The pool shut down earlier this month, posting a sign stating that it can’t pay its bills.
