An unprecedented growth in RV sales is driving another expansion for Jayco in Middlebury.

The RV manufacturer tells Inside Indiana Business their planned 237,000-square-foot operation will create about 300 jobs, with plans to break ground on the new facility next month.

That new facility will house two additional travel trailer lines and help boost efficiency for other brands, according to COO Matt Thompson.

“We’re seeing unprecedented growth in the RV industry,” Thompson told Inside Indiana Business. “Jayco is actively seeking ways to meet consumer demand within, and outside of, Elkhart County. I couldn’t be more excited about the team we’ve assembled in the last 3 years, which has been the catalyst for this tremendous growth. Our product-focused teams have created renewed energy and excitement by pushing the envelope in creating the hottest floorplans and features that consumers are seeking in all segments of the RV industry.”

Jayco was acquired late last year by Elkhart-based Thor Industries. Since then, Thor is coming off a record third-quarter profit, while Jayco has experienced significant growth, as well.

Good luck finding people willing to work these new jobs. The “unemployed” around here are unemployed by choice and because we pay them to lay around. EBT and welfare is the new employer of choice.
