Police spent much of the early hours Thursday finding a home invasion suspect who was caught in the act in Benton Harbor.

St. Joseph Township police responded to the 200 block of Hoover at 2:50 a.m. Thursday, where a homeowner reportedly chased a suspect out of the home.

A perimeter was established by police and, just over two hours later, they got a call about another home invasion shortly before 5 a.m. in the 500 block of South Ottowa. A K-9 officer helped locate the suspect an hour later as he allegedly hid in a garage in the 500 block of Montezuma.

The 33-year-old man, whose name was not released, was booked into Berrien County jail.

St. Joseph Township police believe this is the same man that is responsible for other recent break-ins in the Lincoln Avenue and Maiden Lane areas of Benton Harbor.
