A man in a vehicle was injured by gunshots fired on I-80/94 on Friday, Sept. 22.

The shots were fired at a 2015 Nissan Altima on I-65 northbound to I -80/94 west bound and on the ramp from west bound I-80/94 to Broadway, according to the Indiana State Police.

Multiple bullet casings were found by troopers on the interstate and ramp.

A backseat passenger was taken to North Lake Methodist Hospital in Gary with non-life threatening injuries and was released.

The Gary man driving the car and two other passengers in the care were not injured.

The Nissan had at least three bullet holes in the rear.

The occupants of the vehicle told investigators they had left a bar in Merrillville and were in the area of I-65 northbound and I-80/94 westbound when they heard what sounded like gunfire.  They exited off onto the Broadway ramp where they heard more gunfire.  The only description they could give was a passenger car possibly a Chevrolet.  Upon exiting off at Broadway the Nissan continued north to North Lake Methodist Hospital and the unknown passenger car was last seen around 23rd and Broadway.
