City of Mishawaka in search of “perfect” Christmas tree

(Darrin Wright/95.3 MNC)

The City of Mishawaka is, once again, looking for the perfect tree to display on the northeast lawn of the Mishawaka Police Department.

The perfect Christmas tree has a few requirements: It must be approximately 30-40 feet tall with lots branches and needles so that it is able to hold the thousands of Christmas lights.

If you believe you have the “perfect” tree, you’re asked to contact the Mayor’s Office at 574-258-1601.

The City Arborist and the Mishawaka Utilities Electric Division Manager will come by your location to see if the tree can be easily removed from your property and if it is the correct height and size.

If your tree is chosen, you and your family will be the VIP guests of Mayor Dave Wood participating in the procession with Santa and will be the guests of honor at the tree lighting.

You will get to “flip the switch” and have the honor of lighting this tree for all in the City of Mishawaka to enjoy during the holiday season.

Once lit, this tree can be seen for blocks while traveling either north or south along Main Street or east or west along Mishawaka Avenue.
