Homeless, advocacy group expected at South Bend Common Council meeting

The South Bend Common Council will meet Monday night, and members can expect some visitors.

Michiana Five for the Homeless is planning on speaking out about the recent actions the city conducted to remove the homeless from underneath the South Main Street bridge in downtown South Bend.

At the beginning of the month, South Bend officials cleared out the homeless camp and destroyed numerous skids that were donated to keep the homeless dry from water seepage under the bridge.

WSBT reports the group will also bring homeless people to the meeting, and hope to use the public forum at the end of the meeting to address their concerns.
