Michiana went 0-for-2 in state football title games this weekend.

Despite their second trip to Lucas Oil Stadium in as many years, the Penn Kingsmen saw their 12-game win streak come to an end 63-14 against undefeated and top-ranked Ben Davis. A 21-0 deficit after the first quarter proved to be too much to overcome, leaving the Kingsmen still seeking their first 6A state championship since 2000.

“Brutal as this night was, that didn’t take away from what these seniors accomplished this year and how they responded and how they led a football team back,” head coach Cory Yeoman told ABC 57 after the game. “With all the great things they accomplished this year, this one hurts. It hurts tonight. It’s not how we wanted to go out. Down the road, they’ll have a lot to be proud of because they accomplished a lot of great things.”

Meanwhile, the Edwardsburg Eddies fell short 42-31 against Grand Rapids Catholic Central Friday night in the Michigan Division-4 title game at Ford Field in Detroit.

The Eddies finish their season at 12-2.
