New owner of Eddie’s Steak Shed in Granger almost ready to re-open restaurant

The former Eddie’s Steak Shed is getting a new lease on life.

The Granger eatery received national attention in April when its owner, Roberto Beristain, was deported to Mexico. He still waits a ruling on a motion that claims he was denied due process.

Now, restaurant is ready to reopen under new management. Tom Samoilis, a friend of the original Eddie who opened the place 40 years ago, has bought the Adams Road restaurant. The South Bend Tribune reports he’s shortening the name to The Shed in an effort to combine the legacies of all the previous owners.

He hopes to reopen The Shed in time for the Christmas holidays on Dec. 19.
