A 20-year-old substitute teacher in the John Glenn school district is accused of having sex with a student.

Austin Kipp is being charged with sexual misconduct with a minor.

Principal Mark Maudling says Kipp was a substitute for one day last month at Urey Middle School in Walkerton. The victim told detectives last week he took the victim to his house in North Liberty where they smoked a “vape” and had sex.

Kipp was charged with sexual misconduct with a minor and entered an initial not guilty plea Monday.

His initial hearing is set for Jan. 9.
