17-year-old girl dead after shooting, crash into home

A 17-year-old girl has died after being shot and, then, driving a car into a home in South Bend.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, on Twyckenham Drive and Hildreth Street.

South Bend Police were called to the area and found the teenager, Tysiona Crawford, unresponsive.

Crawford was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries including a gunshot wound, but later died.

The shooting is believed to have happened about a block away from the crash site, on Clover Street.

Investigators with the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit have interviewed several witnesses, but as of early Friday morning, no arrests were announced.
