A Simonton Lake staple is hoping customers come back for a…Re-Pete.

Pete’s Simonton Lake Tavern is now Re-Pete’s Simonton Lake Tavern. It has a new owner, but the South Bend Tribune reports it still has the same character it’s had since 1970.

Casey McDonald, who co-owned the Blarney Stone in South Bend, “stalked” the place with frequent lunches and dinners, knowing it was for sale. He took over just before Thanksgiving and sold his stake in Blarney Stone to his business partner.

In addition to the atmosphere, Re-Pete’s is known for it “smelt”, which is a small lake fish with a distinct flavor.
