Alcohol may be a factor in a crash which injured a 34 year-old Dowagiac man, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The collision happened just before 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, on Shurte Street, east of M 62 in LaGrange Township.

That vehicle went off the road and struck a tree, the sheriff’s office stated.

The injured man, who was a passenger, was reportedly not wearing a seat belt. He was taken to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for treatment.

A second passenger was uninjured. The driver allegedly fled the scene before deputies arrived.
