Gun goes off inside Red Robin restaurant in Mishawaka

Police are investigating after a loaded gun went off inside the Red Robin restaurant in Mishawaka.

It happened on Saturday, March 3.

Mishawaka Police officers were called to the restaurant after the shot was fired.

Investigators say an unknown person dropped a gun on the ground. The gun fired a round, which went through the ceiling, as reported by 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

The person then left the restaurant.

Guns generally don’t go off when dropped, they have to pass stringent tests to make sure that doesn’t happen. In all likely hood someone was messing with their weapon, it went off then they dropped it…and lied about the order of events.

Unless maybe he was carrying a Colt Single Action Army from the 1890’s with a round under the hammer…then maybe.

It would also be good to know if this was a weapon legally possessed by a proper person.

Leave your gun in the holster folks! Stop playing with them!

It was an old 2 shot derringer which doesn’t have a safety. I was 4 feet from it. It went off when it hit the ground.
