South Bend man shot in the face during struggle with unknown attacker

A 19-year-old man was reportedly shot in the face Thursday afternoon in South Bend.

It happened in the area of Elmer and Keller at about 12:40 p.m. Thursday. South Bend police say the victim was able to tell officers about the shooter before a family member took him to the hospital.

He reportedly told officers that the suspect approached him, had a struggle with the victim, and then shot him before running away.

He’s only described as a black male in a black hoodie and black pants.
