A crash involving a car and a semi in South Bend Thursday morning resulted in an injured driver, and a hazardous fuel spill that took hours to clean up.

It happened around 4 a.m. at the intersection of Lincoln Way East and Sample Street, with the car becoming wedged under the semi.

During the crash, the semi’s diesel fuel tank was separated from the tractor and was run over, spilling the fuel.

The driver of the car was unresponsive when she was taken to the hospital and there is no information about her condition.

Lincolnway was closed for much of the morning during the cleanup process.
