Officers investigate threatening note found at Fairfield High School

A student found a threatening note about a bomb written inside a bathroom at Fairfield High School.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department was called to the school around 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, after the discovery of the note.

In response to the threat, the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department provided extra patrols and conducted an extensive search of the building.

Anybody with information about the threat is asked to contact the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department at 574-891-2300 or by leaving an anonymous tip on the department’s tip line, which can be accessed through the department’s webpage.

Those who make a false report about placing an explosive device inside of a building commit a Level 6 Felony, which is punishable up to 2 ½ years’ imprisonment.
