A mistrial has been declared in the case of a former IUSB basketball player accused of rape.

20-year-old Phillip Corthen was charged with two counts of rape.

Both he and 21-year-old Joseph Bannister were accused of raping a student in February 2017 and sending videos of the assault via Snapchat.

The South Bend Tribune reports the jury found him not guilty on one of the two counts he was facing but couldn’t come to a consensus on the second count.

Bannister was found not guilty of rape last week after just 40 minutes of deliberation.

Corthen will be back in court on his one remaining count on May 1st.
