One of the greatest basketball players not just in Michiana history, but NBA history wants basketball back in the city that made him famous.

Concord High School legend Shawn Kemp spent eight seasons with the Seattle Supersonics. Known affectionately as the “Reign Man” in Seattle, the power forward dominated alongside point guard Gary Payton.

In an article posted on The Players Tribune – an outlet where athletes are encouraged to write about their profession – he says he wants basketball back in Seattle. He says basketball has taken him all over the world, but now that he lives in Seattle, he feels something is missing since the Sonics moved to Oklahoma City.

Local leaders are renovating Key Bank Arena and are hopeful of landing an NHL expansion team soon. Kemp remains hopeful that a basketball team won’t be too far behind.
