An overpass might end up being the solution to a dangerous intersection in Argos.

It’s not uncommon to see three or four cars stacked a the intersection of U.S. 31 and State Route 10, waiting to cross dangerous traffic.

ABC 57 reports that, in just the last two weeks alone, there have been nine crashes, 12 injuries, and three helicopters sent to whisk away the injured at that intersection.

INDOT considered adding a j-turn at the intersection, but that option wasn’t popular and was shot down.

Two city officials say an overpass might be the best solution.

Regardless, the town council of Argos plans on reaching out to INDOT with ideas and concerns.

J turns work just fine. It’s a matter of not wanting to think outside the box and spending more money. Put in the J turn. It could be done quickly and save lives. If it does not seem to help you could move forward with more costly solutions.
