Search underway for hit-and-run driver in Cass County

The search is underway for a hit-and-run driver in Cass County.

Deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were called to the crash scene just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, in the area of Dailey Road near Hospital Street in Jefferson Township.

The suspected driver was traveling northbound, crossed the center line and struck a southbound vehicle driven by a 51-year-old man from Osceola. The victim and his wife were treated for injuries at the scene.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, described as a blue 2012 Jeep Wrangler, took off from the scene. Two Dowagiac Police K-9s helped search for the driver, but after checking through corn fields and surrounding woods, the search was called off.
