Penn-Harris-Madison schools beef up security following drill

After an active shooter drill earlier this month, officials with the Penn-Harris-Madison schools say they have new plans in mind to improve security measures at their schools.

The South Bend Tribune reports that PHM will use new technology to report threats, employing a new app called CrisisGo at Penn High School. It’s a two-year free app that can be used on both desktop computers and mobile devices and uses a panic button system, as well as notifications for users.

The app will be evaluated in the fall and could be used at the other schools in the district if successful.

There will be additional security cameras and personnel too, thanks to a grant.
