The US 12 garage sale is urging people to be careful after a tragic situation happened last year along the more than 180-mile sale route.
The sale is popular along the highway that crosses southernmost Michigan before angling up into Detroit.
The annual sale, which takes place this weekend, became tragic as 78 year-old Carole Martin was hit by a car and killed in Southwest Michigan. Martin had parked on one side of the road and was shopping on the other.
The busy highway will be filled with shoppers again this year, with 160 sale sites already signed up for the event, planned booths, and more.
You can find safe shopping tips, as well as a map of sales, at the official website.
