Multiple arrests made, guns, heroin and cocaine confiscated during drug raids in SWMI

The past week has been a busy one for law enforcement agencies in Berrien County who executed several search warrants in an effort to get drugs off the street. As a result of the warrants, six people were arrested, 56 grams of cocaine, 33 grams of heroin and 12 pounds of marijuana and 8 guns were confiscated.

The following is a detailed list of the results of the warrants that was provided by the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office:

On Wednesday 09-26-18, SWET- West detectives along with members of the Berrien County Sheriff Department, and Niles City Police executed a search warrant for illegal narcotics at 1801 Ferry St., in the Township of Niles. This search warrant was a result of an ongoing investigation into the sale and distribution of cocaine. SWET-West Detectives seized over an ounce of cocaine, U.S. Currency, and other items used in the sale and distribution of narcotics.

Elbert Briggs (41) was arrested and lodged Berrien County Jail for:
1. Two counts Delivery Cocaine 2nd
2. Possession with intent to Deliver Cocaine 2nd
3. Maintaining a Drug House 2nd

On Tuesday 10-2-18, SWET- West detectives along with Berrien County Sheriff’s Department Road Patrol executed a search warrant for illegal narcotics at 1821 E Britain, in Benton Township. During the search detectives located and seized approximately 13 grams of heroin, two guns and other items used in the sales and distribution of narcotics. Suspect Allan Coates (50) was located inside the house during the execution of the warrant.

Allan Coates was arrested and lodged Berrien County Jail for:
1. Two counts Delivery of Heroin 2nd
2. Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin 2nd
3. Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
4. Felony Firearms

On Wednesday 10-3-18 SWET- West detectives along with Berrien County TRU, Berrien County Road Patrol, and Benton Harbor Public Safety executed a search warrant for illegal firearms at 972 McAllister, Benton Harbor City. Berrien TRU was able to locate the suspect inside of 972 McAllister at the time of the warrant. SWET-West detectives and TRU located two pistols and two long guns inside the house during a search.

Brian Lamont Miller (44) was arrested and Lodged Berrien County Jail for:
1. Four Counts of Felony Firearms
2. Four Counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon

On Thursday 10-4-18 SWET- West detectives along with Berrien County Road Patrol executed a search warrant for illegal narcotics at 1342 Broadway, in Benton Township. Suspect Corey Douglas (43) was located inside the house at the time of the warrant. During a search of the home officers located approximately a half ounce of cocaine, 11.5 pounds of marijuana, a pistol, and other items related to drug trafficking.

Corey Douglas (43) was arrested and lodged Berrien County Jail for:
1. Probation Violation
2. Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine 2nd
3. Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana 2nd
4. Maintaining a Drug House 2nd
5. Felony Firearms 2nd
6. Possession of a Firearm by a Felon

On Friday 10-5-18 SWET-West Detectives long with Berrien County TRU, Berrien County Road Patrol, and Benton Harbor Public Safety executed a search warrant for illegal narcotics at 205 Garfield, City of Benton Harbor. This warrant was the result of a 10 month long investigation by SWET-West for the sale and distribution of heroin from the house. Berrien County TRU located and secured two suspects inside the house during the search warrant. Officers located approximately one ounce of heroin, marijuana, and a semi-auto hand gun inside the home.

Dexter Brown (32) was arrested and lodged Berrien County Jail for:
1. Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin 2nd
2. Maintaining a Drug House 2nd
3. Felony Firearms
4. Possession of a Firearm by a Felon

Kevin McGee (23) was arrested and lodged Berrien County jail for:
1. Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana
