Get ready for some big construction along State Road 933.

A stretch of the road, also known as Dixie Highway, would be handed over to St. Joseph County by the state if an agreement can be reached.

It’s for a new development project that will add retail space, office property, and new apartments.

The work will focus on the area from Angela Boulevard to the State Line, especially at the intersection with Douglas Road.

County officials say the state has a vested interest in growth in the area of Exit 77, and much of the new property would be visible from the Indiana Toll Road.
