The Indiana State Police is investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened while Kosciusko County deputies were serving an arrest warrant.
Members of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team were helping Syracuse Police serve a warrant around 4:40 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, at a home in the 500 block of N. Huntington Street. That’s when deputies say Dale Harner, 27, started to pull a gun as officers entered the house.
One of the SWAT team members, Travis Shively, fired multiple rounds at Harner, but he was not shot. Police K-9 Neville then bit Harner twice.
Harner was arrested and then transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment of bite wounds.
He is now held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a Wabash County warrant for possession of methamphetamine and faces charges of resisting arrest and intimidation.
The Kosciusko County prosecutor is reviewing the case.
