South Bend man arrested after clocked driving 106 miles on toll road

A South Bend man has been arrested after police say they stopped him after clocking him driving 106 miles per hour on the Indiana Toll Road.

The traffic stop happened around 10:40 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, near the 71 mile marker.

Two state troopers approached the vehicle and smelled raw marijuana. During a search of the vehicle, they found marijuana residue. Ricardo Wilson, 41 of South Bend was arrested for preliminary charges of reckless driving and driving while suspended.

The state troopers continued to smell a strong odor of marijuana while transporting Wilson to the St. Joseph County Jail. At their jail, guards found Wilson was allegedly hiding a plastic bag of marijuana on himself and was also intoxicated.

Wilson was placed into lock-up with additional preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated, operating while intoxicated-endangerment and possession of marijuana.
