The death of an eight-week-old infant in LaPorte County has been ruled a homicide and police have arrested the baby’s father.

Brandon Bottom, 24, of Michigan City was taken into custody at the LaPorte County Jail on Friday, Feb. 8, on charges of neglect of a dependent resulting in death, aggravated battery resulting in death, and battery with death to a person under 14-years-old.

The infant was taken to the hospital on Feb. 1 and died this past Tuesday. Hospital officials contacted the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office after the baby was admitted.
