Indiana Dept. of Education looks to help students with the greatest needs

The Indiana State Board of Education met last week for their monthly business meeting, and approved funding to support trans-formative change for students with the greatest needs.

Among the topics of discussion was the distribution of Title One money. The Department of Education awarded $6.8 million to 88 schools for use in the coming school year.

The board also allocated school improvement grant dollars to 25 turnaround academies, which are among the state’s lowest performing schools. The Board has worked closely with under-performing schools to find the best ways to effect change for the students who need better support.
