A fast-moving storm resulted in reports of building damage, trees down and power cut to more than 1,400 Indiana Michigan Power customers in South Bend and Mishawaka at the height of the outages.

The storm happened around 8:35 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, and moved from south to north.

THe National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning for St. Joseph County.

Images from residents showed formation of a funnel cloud and a tornado. Video showed rotation of the funnel cloud, as well as trees whipping in the wind and heavy rain.

The South Bend Police Department shut down Ironwood Road from Lincolnway West to Ireland Road due to storm damage, including trees and power lines down.

Among the damage to buildings, the roof was ripped off of the Growing Kids Learning Center at Ironwood and Ireland Roads.

As the storm moved northward, it weakened to the degree that the National Weather Service did not extend the Tornado Warning.
