The Indiana State Board of Education met on Wednesday and took action on virtual schools in the state.
At the monthly business meeting, the Board voted to adjust the average daily membership of Indiana Virtual School and Indiana Virtual Pathways Academy, reducing the membership number by half.
The decision is retroactive to the 2016-2017 school year and based on the findings of an affidavit from the state examiner.
The Board chairman said it was clear that the two virtual schools “grossly exaggerated the enrollment figures” that were reported to the Department of Education, which resulted in them receiving funding to which they were not truly entitled.
