An Elkhart man is trying to get a new trial after he was convicted of murder.

WSBT reports 44 year-old Andy Royer is presenting evidence to a Kosciusko Superior County Court judge, saying it entitles him to a new trial.

This is his fifth attempt to overturn his conviction. Royer received a 55-year sentence for the 2002 murder of Helen Sailor, but claims he was coerced into a false confession by the Elkhart Police.
