(Tyler Sebree/ABC 57 Meteorologist) Much colder air is filtering in and will remain in place as 2020 gets underway. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that lasts through 7 p.m. on Tuesday. A Wind Advisory is in effect for northeatern Indiana until 11 a.m. on Monday.
After a remarkable stretch of tranquil and mild weather, Michiana saw plenty of rain over the weekend. Snow showers will replace the rain on Monday, Dec. 30, as the wind picks up. Gusts of 30-40 mph are expected all day.
The snow picks up in coverage and intensity Monday night into Tuesday. Those north of U.S. 30 could see 1-3″ by Tuesday afternoon, with areas along and north of the Toll Road seeing 2-4″. It’ll again be windy Monday night and Tuesday, adding a bite to the air.
New Year’s Day looks nice with a brief warm-up into the 40s and perhaps lower 50s Thursday and Friday as rain returns. Behind that system will be another bout of snow and colder air.
TRAVEL DISRUPTIONS:
The snow and wind will make travel difficult and hazardous Monday night thru Tuesday, mainly north of U.S. 30. Travel will be even more difficult than what is shown here for parts of Berrien and Cass Counties in Michigan.#INwx #MIwx #Snow pic.twitter.com/Q1CyYrdlSq
