From a class of 37, there are now eight new Indiana State Troopers preparing to patrol the Toll Road now that they’ve graduated from the Recruit Academy.

The troopers spent 25 weeks in training that involved over 1,100 hours of academic and hands-on classes on modern police work.

The eight troopers assigned to police the Toll Road include Tyler Vermillion, who attended Plymouth High School before joining the Marine Corps; Michael Bumbaugh, who attended Wawasee High School before joining the Marines, and Brandon Johnson, who graduated from Warsaw High School before joining the Army National Guard.

The new troopers will spend more than three months of specialized training in the field before they begin solo patrols on the Toll Road.
