Berrien County fugitive featured on TV arrested in Mexico

A local fugitive that was featured on a national TV show has been arrested in Mexico. 53 year old William Stanson’s story was featured on “In Pursuit with John Walsh”, and after his arrest is headed back to the US.

He was charged with sexually assaulting a minor back in Berrien County back in 2015. Leading up to the show the last police had heard of him, he sold his truck in Arizona and disappeared. Police say he was arrested on Tuesday by Mexican authorities, but details about his capture have not been released.

He will now face charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, criminal sexual conduct and failure to appear for an early charge of accosting a minor.
