A SWAT standoff came to a peaceful resolution in Mishawaka Thursday morning.

Police Chief Scott Witkowski says officers were executing a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of Burdette Street around 9 a.m.

The suspect shut the door and refused to leave. He surrendered peacefully after a couple of hours when SWAT members used a flash bang. He was led out in handcuffs and two women left the house as well.

Two nearby schools, LaSalle Elementary School and Marian High School, were briefly on lockdown.

There’s no official word of any charges.
