A teenager in Middlebury is facing rape charges in a violent sexual encounter from last year. The attack happened in September, but wasn’t immediately reported to the police.

Instead, it was sometime after when the victim told her mother that the investigation began. The victim said she had gone with the suspect to his home after church, he tried to kiss her, she pulled away, and then he wrapped his hands around her neck and choked her until she lost consciousness.

During the investigation police viewed text messages between suspect and victim that were consistent with her report and a classmate corroborated her injuries. The teen has been charged with felony rape and sexual batter with deadly force.

If convicted he faces up to 52 years in prison.
