Man wanted for murder in Michigan arrested in Indiana on US 20 bypass

A person wanted in connection to a murder in Ottawa County Michigan was arrested early Thursday in St. Joseph County Indiana. He has since been identified as 31 year old David McCoy.

A release from the St. Joseph County Police Department says that they received word that the suspect had traveled into Indiana and was headed east on the US 20 bypass. He made it as far as the Elm Road exit before he was arrested.

May 14, 2020

During the early hours of Thursday, May 14, 2020 our department was notified of a murder investigation taking place in Holland Township in the State of Michigan. Information was obtained and relayed to our officers that the suspect was traveling east on the US 20 Bypass near SR 2.  
Road patrol officers from our department and the Mishawaka Police Department were able to locate the suspect vehicle and conduct a traffic stop on the US 20 Bypass near Elm Road.  A male subject, and the only occupant of the vehicle, was taken into custody without incident. The male was identified as David McCoy, 31, of Holland, Michigan.
McCoy was arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle and transported to the St. Joseph County Jail. Investigators from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the murder.
