A body was pulled from the St. Joseph River in downtown South Bend.

Crews from the South Bend Fire Department were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, to the 300 block of East Colfax Avenue for a water rescue.

Upon arrival, crews entered the water for a shore-based recovery and not a rescue.

The body of an adult male was recovered and turned over to the coroner.

An autopsy is expected to take place on Friday.
