One person has died and others are injured after a crash in Cass County.

Police were sent to the crash near Brownsville Street and Highfield Road intersection just before midnight Monday.

An investigation reveals a vehicle was traveling westbound on Brownsville when it lost control due to both speed and a freshly applied chip seal to the roadway.

The vehicle rolled several times before it came to rest in a field.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while several others were transported to a local hospital for various injuries.

The victim was later identified as Marcus Moore, 41 of Cassopolis.
