A Niles man is recovering from injuries after a close encounter with a deer. Cass County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash around 1:50 a.m.on Saturday, Oct. 3, on Redfield Street near Fir Road in Milton Township where they say the 31-year-old man was traveling westbound and swerved to miss the deer.
He lost control of the vehicle, ran off the roadway and struck a mailbox and large landscaping rocks.
The driver was taken to St. Joe Medical Center for treatment.
A 41-year-old Dowagiac woman was hurt in a single-vehicle crash in in Cass County.
The collision happened around 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, at
Dailey Road and Peavine Street in LaGrange Township.
The vehicle operated by the woman left the roadway at the intersection and struck an embankment and several smaller trees, according to the Cas County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman was taken to Lakeland Hospital in Niles for treatment.
A 40-year-old Elkhart man is recovering from injuries after he slammed into a cement mailbox.
The crash happened late Friday morning, Oct. 2, on Jackson Boulevard near Middleton Run Road in Elkhart.
There was no word on why the veered off the roadway, but the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office says he was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of shoulder pain and injuries to his ribs.
