A LaPorte man is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl and then dropping her off down the road from he house as her mom talked with Hobart police.

On Aug. 21, Tyler Curtis was taken the the Hobart Police Department after a girl said she snuck out of her home to meet Curtis and then was raped in his truck.

Police pulled Curtis over, after they saw him drop the girl off while speaking to her mother as she reported her missing.

Curtis denied dropping the girl off at first, and said he was coming from Gary.

However, while he was talking with police the girl told police at her home that she met a man named “Tyler” on Snapchat. The girl’s mother and police found a nude photo of the girl that had been sent to Curtis’ phone.

She also told police that she told Curtis she was too young to have sex, but he still raped her. She said she met him because she hoped he’d give her a vape pen. He did when she got out of his truck.

Police called the number from the Snapchat, and Curtis’ phone rang as he was talking with police. Curtis said he didn’t know the girl.

Curtis was taken to the Lake County Jail and was being held without bond on Friday for rape, child molesting, and child solicitation, said the Times of Northwest Indiana.
