South Bend’s annual Gingerbread Village Competition kicks off Wednesday

The deadline to enter South Bend’s annual Gingerbread Village Competition is quickly approaching.

Bakers of all ages and skill levels are invited to take part in the competition by submitting a handmade gingerbread house by December 3.

Registration is free, and must be completed by Wednesday, December 2. It can be done online at downtownsouthbend.com.

Entries should be dropped off, fully assembled, at the Courtyard by Marriott South Bend on either December 2 from 5-6 p.m., or December 3 from 12-1 p.m.

The village will be on display for public viewing in the lobby from December 4-24.

First place prizes will be awarded in three categories, including:

  • Non-professional child (18 and younger)
  • Non-professional (individual, family or group)
  • Professional (individual or group)

Entries will be judged on originality, design, craftmanship, degree of difficulty and overall appearance.
