(Emily Kennedy/ABC 57 News) We are starting out 2021 with freezing rain in our forecast. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 1.
Freezing rain will start south of US-30 around 9 a.m. and work it’s way north. It looks like it will last into the afternoon so slick roads will be likely most of the day. Ice accumulation of one-tenth to one-quarter of an inch is expected. Isolated power outages cannot be ruled out.
It’ll briefly change over rain showers in the evening before turning to snow. Less than 1″ expected for most but could see 1-2″ of snow north of the Indiana Toll Road.
Saturday is quiet, weather-wise, but a quick round of snow moves through Saturday night into early Sunday morning. The first work week in 2021 starts out mild with some sunshine.
