Indiana woman fined for climbing Mt. Rushmore

(Tommie Lee/MNC)

An Indiana woman has pleaded guilty a federal crime: Climbing Mt. Rushmore.

20 year-old Molly Venderley of Bloomington was given a fine of $1250 after entering the plea in federal court Monday in Rapid City, South Dakota.

A pair of other misdemeanor charges were dropped as a result of her plea deal.

A park ranger reported that Venderley admitted to him that she’d climbed in the dark on Sunday when the park was closed and because she knew it was against the law. Her flashlight was seen on a security camera and she was close to Washington’s face when she was discovered.

It’s ok, might has well let her climb it. I’m sure the Biden/Harris administration already has plans to take that sculpture down.
