Woman killed, man hospitalized after shooting at Ford and Illinois Streets in South Bend

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is on the scene of a double shooting, at the intersection of Ford and Illinois Streets in South Bend.

Police were called to the area around 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27.

Here is the latest information from Metro Homicide:

On April 27, 2021 at approximately 11:14 p.m. South Bend Police Department officers
responded to 606 S. Illinois Street, South Bend, IN regarding a report of a
“ShotSpotter” activation.

Upon arriving at that address, officers found a man inside the residence with apparent gunshot wounds and he was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Officers also located a woman inside the residence with apparent gunshot wounds. Attempts to resuscitate the woman were unsuccessful and she was pronounced deceased at the scene of this incident.

South Bend Police Department officers secured the crime scene.

A representative of the St. Joseph County Coroner Office was contacted and per protocol, the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit was activated and is currently handling the investigation.

Witnesses have been interviewed by CMHU Investigators. There is no suspect
information to release at this time, and no arrests have been made.

C.M.H.U. investigators contacted family members of the deceased victim and she has
been identified as Olivia Carrillo, 26, of South Bend,

The identity of the male victim is being withheld pending notification of his family.

This is an active and on-going investigation. An autopsy will be conducted and an
update will be provided when more information is available for release. If anyone has
