The City of South Bend has hired its first police community review office director.
City Clerk Dawn Jones told The South Bend Tribune that Joshua Reynolds, a former police officer and investigator in Indianapolis, will start in the role on June 7th.
The city will also hire an assistant for Reynolds and hope that the Community Review Board could be trained and ready to start taking police misconduct complaints by late August or early September.
Reynolds, who is 42, says he looks forward to having the opportunity to help restore trust between the community and its police department.
